Someday

Ca. 2000
36" x 24"
Tempera

In this painting, I have symbolized the kind of landscape that fills the glorious sunset of our lives with joy and happiness. It is a picture of an ordinary landscape with extraordinary warmth. The kind of landscape found in my hometown with the two rivers intersecting behind the ruins of an ancient Temple.

We all think of all we want to do or accomplish someday, when we no longer have the strength of youth. Someday, in the land of a stranger, we want to look out of the window and say "Sun, thanks for all the light of my life." Someday, when the ruins of a city we used to know comes to our face, we want to assure the young that everything fades away. Someday, like the hot and cold rivers that meet to give the lukewarm water, we hope to see that truth is constant, but the position is always changing. Someday, in the life of a parser by, we hope to see the likeness of beautiful friends we've lost along the way. Someday, we hope to see love in everything.

Someday, love will find us forever................
